2011 Dodge Nitro

New for 2011, the Dodge Nitro Heat 4.0 lifestyle package joins the Detonator, Shock and Heat models that arrived on the scene in 2010. The new Nitro Heat 4.0 comes standard with a five-speed automatic transmission, standard Úconnect®Phone and an upgraded eight-speaker sound system. Of course the Heat 4.0 would not be complete without the powerful 4.0-liter V-6 engine as standard equipment. The all-aluminum 4.0-liter overhead cam V-6 engine delivers 260 horsepower (194 kW) and 265 lb.-ft. (359 N•m) of torque.
Interestingly, a four-cylinder engine is not available, only two V6s, perhaps putting the emphasis on "sport" in sport-utility.
Also, two suspensions are available, the standard one called "sport" and another called "performance," which seem to mean the same thing.
So, however it's equipped, the Nitro is big on sport.

The base motor is a 3.7-liter V6 with 210 horsepower and 235 pound-feet of torque. It's made of lightweight aluminum and features an advanced electronic throttle control for precise drive-by-wire control and efficiency. It's mated to either a standard six-speed manual or optional four-speed automatic transmission, and gets 16 miles per gallon in the city and 22 on the highway.
The up-level Nitro R/T model is equipped with a 4.0-liter V6 that churns out a healthy 260 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. The engine is hooked up to a five-speed automatic transmission. Mileage isn't compromised as it is nearly equivalent to that of the lesser V6, estimated at 16 mpg in the city and 21 on the highway.
Both engines can be had powering either just the two rear wheels or all four wheels.
Towing capacity is 5,000 pounds for the R/T when the trailer tow group option is selected.
Automotive critics have praised the Nitro for its off-road prowess and towing capabilities, saying they out-perform other compact SUVs.
he all-new Dodge Nitro lineup was revised and renamed in 2010, offering new exterior and interior styling features. These newly repackaged models – Heat, Detonator and Shock along with the Heat 4.o Lifestyle Package – provide Nitro customers with more standard content and style, including 20-in. aluminum wheels, sunscreen glass and performance suspension paint. For 2011, select models feature upgraded interiors with new cloth and leather with premium colored stitching. Detonator and Shock are now tattooed with Dodge Brand's signature racing stripes.

The Shock has an intense, nine speaker including subwoofer audio system, remote start and Parksense® rear park assist system. The 2011 Dodge Nitro lineup is now available in nine exterior colors, including new for 2011 Bright White Clear Coat, Blackberry Pearl Coat, Toxic Orange Pearl Coat and Redline Two Coat Pearl.

2011 Dodge Challenger

Styling: The 2011 Dodge Challenger’s styling isn’t altered, staying true to the model-year 2008 revival of this MoPar muscle car. The long-hood, short-deck shape, wide grille flanked by round headlamps, graceful roofline, and full-width tail lamps continue to honor the 1970 Challenger two-door coupe.

The 2011 Dodge Challenger’s interior is updated, but not as extensively or as elegantly as that of several other 2011 Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep models. Revisions to the 2011 Challenger’s cabin are highlighted by a new steering wheel with more ergonomically integrated controls for the audio and cruise control systems and other functions. The dashboard instrumentation gets new faces, and assorted trim is regrained or softer to the touch.
he base model 2011 Dodge Challenger SE will come with Chrysler’s new high-feature 3.6-liter V6 engine, packing 305 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque (compared to 290 horsepower under the hood of the Jeep Grand Cherokee using the same engine). The Challenger’s current five-speed automatic will remain, fuel economy will be rated at 19 city, 26 highway miles per gallon.

We’ve known that the Challenger SRT8 model would swap out its 6.1-liter V8 for a new 6.4-liter unit for the 2011 model year, but until now we could only speculate in regards to power figures. Although not as high as many rumors indicating it could produce as much as 500 horsepower, the 6.4-liter HEMI will be rated at 475 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.
Along with the new engine, the SRT engineers have given the Challenger’s chassis some help with new dampers accompanied by revised suspension geometry. The steering is now quicker, too, and uses a heavy-duty hydraulic pump that’s said to offer more feel, particularly on-center, something the car needed. We’re hopeful, too, that the changes impart an extra dash of nimbleness to what is a heavy car—it weighs more than two tons.

Exterior differentiation starts with prominent “392 HEMI” badges on the front fenders. The front fascia has been revised, including a larger chin spoiler that creeps up along the wheel wells in order to route airflow around the rolling stock.

The 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT 392 comes with xenon headlamps, functional hood scoops, leather upholstery, special sport bucket front seats, and dashboard readouts that track 0-60-mph acceleration times, lateral G-forces, and other lead-foot data. Dodge also is offering the 2011 SRT8 392 Inaugural Edition, a special model whose production is limited to 1,492 cars.  The Inaugural Edition rides on exclusive 20-inch wheels and tires and gives buyers a choice of a white exterior with blue stripes running the length of the car or a blue exterior with white stripes. The seats are finished in white leather with blue stripes and stitching.

2012 Dodge Caliber

The 2011 Dodge Caliber ranks 7 out of 7 Affordable Compact Wagons. This ranking is based on our analysis of 87 published reviews and test drives of the Dodge Caliber, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.

Reviewers say the 2011 Dodge Caliber is a decent commuter car, but beyond that, it falters. It’s overshadowed by competitors that offer better performance, value and utility.
Following up on last year’s interior redo, Dodge has made more changes to its compact Caliber for 2011. Unfortunately, shedding the silly new trim-level names introduced for 2010 was not among the alterations; as a refresher, they are Express, Mainstreet, Uptown, Heat, and Rush.

Changes across the board include the addition of six new paint colors with whimsical names like Mango Tango and Redline 2. Stability control becomes standard on all but the Express trim level, and the optional navigation system gains Sirius traffic information. A new 18-inch chrome wheel design is available for Uptown models.
The Dodge Caliber receives a few updates for the 2011 model year. These include six new exterior colors, a new navigation radio with SIRIUS Travel Link and retuned steering. The Caliber starts at about $17,000, which is pricey when compared to hatchbacks and wagons with better performance, nicer interiors and larger cargo areas.

There are only slight mechanical updates: All models except the Express get revised steering, while the Heat and Rush receive retuned shocks and a thicker rear anti-roll bar. The Caliber’s thrashy, unrefined powertrains are regrettably unchanged. The base engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder rated at 158 hp and 141 lb-ft of torque, while a 2.4-liter four with 172 hp and 165 lb-ft is standard on Rush and optional on Uptown trims.
The Caliber comes in five trims: Express, Mainstreet, Uptown, Heat and Rush. Express, the base trim, comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a five speed manual transmission. Upgrading to the Rush trim gets you a 2.4-liter engine and a five-speed manual transmission. This option starts at about $21,000, which is pricey.

2012 Dodge Avenger
