2011 GMC Yukon

The Yukon and Yukon XL family of full-size SUVs continues to offer an uncompromising package of capability, comfort and refinement. They offer distinctive styling, spacious and refined interiors, exceptional driving characteristics and segment-leading safety features – including standard head curtain side air bags for all seating rows on all models.

Pricing: car pricing will be officially released prior to its release in the middle of 2010. Prices should be slightly above the current amounts of $38,020 MSRP and S35,359 invoice for the base model. Fuel economy: since no major changes are expected for the new model year, the 2011 GMC Yukon’s fuel economy should remain the same, at 14 mpg city/20 mpg highway for the two-wheel drive version, and 12 mpg city/19 mpg highway for the all-wheel drive version.
INTERIOR
The Yukon and Yukon XL are available in two trim levels: SLE (cloth) and SLT (leather). Both feature a spacious and refined environment, thanks to a premium tone-on-tone color scheme and a lower-positioned instrument panel. A third-row seat is standard on all Yukon models.

Sculpted seat designs and detailed trim affirm the vehicles' craftsmanship, which is bolstered by optional amenities such as heated seats for first- and second-row passengers. Also, the front seats offer plenty of fore/aft and recline travel, and the second-row seats have a comfortable angle for the seatback recline.

Craftsmanship is seen in unexpected areas, such as distinctive sill plates that greet occupants when the doors are opened, and there are no exposed fasteners or hardware on the pillars, seats or seat tracks. The seats have 'close-outs' that surround the seat bottoms and seat tracks, creating a more finished appearance. The undersides of the seats are covered, too, when folded.

The Yukon and Yukon XL also offer an industry-exclusive power fold-and-tumble second-row seat feature that eases access to the third-row seat. The power fold-and-tumble second-row seats feature release buttons accessible by the driver on the overhead console or on the interior C-pillar to provide an easy, immediate release of the seat and an access path to the third-row seat or cargo area.

Yukon and Yukon XL interiors are versatile, too. The third-row seats fold flat and are easily tumbled forward or removed for maximum cargo area. Also, the center console storage compartment, at 20.1 liters of capacity, is the segment's largest. The glove box offers significant storage space, too, and features damped opening operation that bolsters quietness and refinement.

 EXTERIOR
The exterior of the 2011 GMC Yukon should carry over unchanged for the new model year. All models should come with heated side mirrors, roof rails, halogen headlights, and a rear step bumper. Upgraded trims offer different features, such as different wheels, a unique grille, power liftgate, and a sunroof.
Interior Features

The interior of the 2011 GMC Yukon should carry over unchanged for the new model year, although minor alterations to what features go with which trim levels could be made. Basic models should come with two-zone temperature control, steering-wheel mounted audio controls, OnStar, a three passenger bench seat with 40/20/40 split, and an audio system that has a CD player, mp3 compatibility, satellite radio, and a USB port. Upgraded trims should offer features like remote vehicle start, parking assist with a rearview camera, an upgraded Bose sound system, navigation, and heated and cooled front seats. Optional features that will be available on some models include blind spot warning and rear seat entertainment.

The 2011 Yukon has a well-designed interior that will make driver and passengers feel pampered and elegant inside this large SUV. In the front, the console is located centrally between bucket seats. The dashboard is outstanding with a highly-intuitive arrangement that beats out many higher-priced competitors. The top line Denali has a wood and leather covered steering wheel, and all models use leather to create an elegant feel. The powered driver’s seat is adjustable in six modes, and the driver has an excellent field of vision through the windshield. Indeed, the drive has a good 360 degree vision with large side mirrors. The front seats in most models allow the cushions to be adjusted electronically, but with manual reclining.

ENGINE
New for the latest generation is standard stability control and a six-speed automatic for the heavier-duty 3/4-ton models and standard side curtain air bags across the range.

The 4.8-liter V8 available on the shorty Yukon is nowhere to be found here, replaced by the 5.3-liter V8 as standard equipment on the 1/2-ton models, and a 6.0-liter V8 on the 3/4-ton models.

Power is rated at 320 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 335 lb-ft at 4,200 rpm for the 5.3-liter V8. This engine is partnered with a six-speed automatic transmission. The combo returns 15 mpg on the EPA's city cycle, and 21 mpg on the highway.

The first optional engine (standard on 3/4-ton models) is a 6.0-liter V8 with variable valve timing and Active Fuel Management that makes 352 hp at 5,500 rpm and 382 lb-ft at 4,300 rpm and is available as a standalone option on the SLT trims of the half-ton XL.

The final optional engine is a 6.2-liter V8 that cranks out 395 horsepower and 417 lb-ft of torque. This engine will return 12 city and 19 highway on two-wheel drive vehicles - and is not available in four-wheel drive configurations.

The half-ton XLs are able to tow a maximum of 7,200 lbs in 2WD guise, while the 3/4-ton variants can manage up to 8,600 pounds in either two- or four-wheel drive models.
SAFETY
car safety features should carry over unchanged for 2011. 2011 GMC Yukon safety features include OnStar, antilock brakes, side airbags in the front seat, and head curtain airbags with a rollover sensor. An blind spot warning system should be available as an option.
Suspension: suspension smooths out bumps in the pavement
Warranty: three-year/36,000 mile basic warranty; five-year/100,000 mile powertrain and roadside assistance warranties; six-year/100,000 mile corrosion warranty.

2011 GMC Terrain

GM today is less blatant about its badge engineering, with differences in appearance extending beyond just grilles and headlamps to the point that each vehicle wears wholly unique sheetmetal over similar underpinnings. Still, four derivatives is a quantity we feel surpasses the threshold of discretion for badge engineering, and the Saab 9-4X—a vehicle whose future is uncertain at best—would bring the TE total to five, although the Caddy and Saab will be built on a heavily revised version of the platform.

While the Terrain’s mechanicals will be pilfered from GM’s other trucklets, from what is visible beneath the minimal camouflage in our spy shots, it appears that the styling is cribbed both from its Lambda big brother, the Acadia, and the Sierra pickup. The Sierra lends its large-mouth grille and squared-off headlights to the Terrain, while the Acadia donates its high roofline, reverse-canted C-pillar, and the slope of its backlight. Together, those elements should make the Terrain instantly recognizable as a GMC, which is more than can be said of the TrailBlazer family’s grille and badge differentiations.
 INTERIOR
The interior of the 2011 GMC Terrain will vary depending on which trim level you purchase. At the most basic level, the Terrain will include features like air conditioning, cruise control, a trip computer, power accessories, powered front seats, OnStar, and a CD player with satellite radio and an auxiliary audio input. Bluetooth, an upgraded sound system, automated temperature controls, driver seat memory, hard drive-based music storage and navigation, and rear seat entertainment should be available on higher level trims and as options. The Terrain scored highly in terms of front and rear seat comfort, and in quietness. The vehicle also rated better than average for its class in cargo room.

Interior features for the 2011 GMC Terrain can vary as four trim levels are available. The standard model includes front bucket seats, driver information center, remote keyless entry, rearview camera integrated with rearview mirror, air conditioning, and rear window defogger. Stability control is provided along with front and side airbags, and side curtain airbags. Steering for the I-4 is electronic power and hydraulic power for the V6

The entertainment system includes satellite radio and CD player, with Graphic Interface Display and Radio Data System. Volume is compensated for speed and the audio system uses six speakers. Standard XM Radio features more than 179 channels with commercial free music, news, sports, kids, and other entertainment content. XM Radio requires a subscription after the first 90 days.

The 2011 GMC Terrain is able to seat five people. The cabin has comfortable seats with enough head and leg room for its occupants. There is plenty of cargo room, as well as several cubbyholes and bins to store small items.

 EXTERIOR
The Terrain is offered with front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive in SLE and SLT trim levels. A list of standard and available features includes: standard rear vision camera, programmable power rear liftgate.

The Terrain rides on a 112.5-inch (2,857 mm) wheelbase and features a four-wheel independent suspension system, with wide front and rear tracks that promise to offer comfort and solid handling. A family of 17-inch, 18-inch aluminum and 19-inch chrome-clad wheels is available.
ENGINE
with the most likely choices coming from the Equinox: a direct-injected (DI) 2.4-liter four-cylinder good for 182 hp and 174 lb-ft of torque, and a DI 3.0-liter V-6 rated at 255 hp and 214 lb-ft. Power will travel through a six-speed automatic transmission to either the front or all four wheels.

Two engines are available for customers to consider. A new, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with direct injection delivers highway fuel economy of 32 mpg, and a city rating of 22. Peak fuel economy is achieved in part with an "ECO" mode that is activated via a console-mounted button. When engaged, it lowers the torque converter lockup speed to 1,125 rpm to help save fuel on models equipped with the motor.

Also available is a 3.0-liter DOHC direct injected V-6 engine delivering an estimated 264 horsepower. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Terrain's rack-mounted electric power steering system provides greater fuel efficiency on four-cylinder-equipped models, saving nearly 11 miles per tank of gas.

2011 GMC Sierra

No styling changes of note are expected for the 2011 GMC Sierra 1500. Its bold, GMC-badged grille will again be the main visual distinction from the Chevy Silverado 1500. Additional GMC insignia inside and out, cabin trim details, and GMC-specific model designations round out the differences. Though non-functional, such distinctions are part of a GMC marketing philosophy that pays off with a buyer base that’s more affluent, more educated, and more likely to be professional or managerial than Silverado’s. The 2011 Sierra’s overall look is handsome and confident, despite being around since model-year 2007. Offering newer styling and fresher features is the rival Ford F-150, which was re-engineered for model-year 2009, and the Dodge Ram 1500, which was fully redesigned for 2009.
INTERIOR
The 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab comes in a single body style of a half ton full size truck, and comes only with a short 5-foot-8 bed. The Sierra 1500 Crew Cab comes in a nicely appointed SLT trim and an SL trim, which fits in between the SLE and Work models, and so is the case with the range-topping Denali.

The standard equipments for the SL trim of the Sierra 1500 crew cab includes just the bare necessities, including air-conditioning, a 40/20/40-split front bench seat OnStar telematics, a CD/MP3 stereo having satellite radio, an auxiliary audio jack and a trip computer, vinyl seat upholstery, a tilt steering wheel. In addition to all this the SL trim gets complete power accessories, cruise control, keyless entry, adaptable lumbar support for its driver and satellite radio.

The premium SLT trim will get you features such as premium cloth seat upholstery, a lockable section having a power outlet urbanized into the split front seat’s center cushion, a leather-swathed steering wheel and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Some other features for the SLT includes a premium interior having a completely upgraded materials and center console, chrome-clad alloy wheels, leather seat upholstery, a Bose audio system having a 6 disc CD changer, an exclusive dash design having metallic and wood accents, remote engine start, 12 way power heated/adjustable rear audio controls and front seats.
EXTERIOR
There are the five unique cab layout / box length combinations. The Regular cab is available with a long box only, the Extended cab adds a standard box option, and the conventionally-hinged four-door Crew cab also offers both. Maximum payload capacities are the same regardless of engine choice, at 4,192 lbs in the Regular cab 2WD model. Opting for 4WD decreases the capacity to 3,580 lbs in the same truck.

The iconic Denali four-bar, chrome grille with round air inlets distinguishes the Sierra Denali HDs on the outside, along with body-color bumpers, chrome door handles, chrome accents and 17- (Dually), 18- and 20-inch polished forged aluminum wheels. On the inside they include Denali-specific brushed aluminum trim, power-adjustable pedals, a Bose premium surround audio system and 12-way power seats. Along with an optional heated steering wheel, heated and cooled leather-appointed seating is available. The exterior is offered in three colors: Black, Stealth Gray and White.

ENGINE

Luckily, GM’s done a good job managing the technology gap between its big-pickups and their rivals. In fact, only Sierra and Silverado offer a gas-electric hybrid powertrain. And their conventional engines are very competitive in power and fuel economy. The GMC Sierra engine lineup expects to repeat for 2011 with a base V-6 and four V-8s. The V-6 will likely retain a 195-horsepower rating, while the entry-level 4.8-liter V-8 returns with 302; both these engines use a four-speed automatic transmission. Also expected to return is the 315-horsepower 5.3-liter V-8 and the top-of-the-line 403-horsepower 6.2-liter V-8, both of which use a six-speed automatic. The 5.3 V-8 has GM’s Active Fuel Management system that conserves fuel by automatically switching between eight and four cylinders, depending on power demands. The 2011 Sierra 1500’s maximum trailer capacity won’t differ much from 2010’s mark of 10,600 pounds (obtained on the crew cab with the 6.2-liter V-8 and optional towing package). Like every other big pickup, Sierra’s built on a rear-wheel drive platform, but it alone offers three alternatives: part-time four-wheel drive (4WD) not designed for use on dry pavement, GM’s Autotrac 4WD that can remain engaged on all surfaces, and exclusive all-wheel drive available in the Sierra Denali. The 4WD systems include low-range gearing. The Sierra Hybrid combines a 6.0-liter V-8 with electric motors imbedded in the transmission casing. Total system horsepower is 332 and it self-charges the nickel-metal hydride battery pack. The Sierra Hybrid can reach 30 mph on electricity alone. Its V-8 employs Active Fuel Management and the electric motors extended its time in gas-saving four-cylinder mode and also provide a power boost during acceleration. The Sierra Hybrid has a continuously variable transmission and is available with two- or four-wheel drive; its towing capacity is 6,100 pounds.
 Safety:

The safety equipments for the 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab includes equipments such as includes stability control, antilock brakes, side, side curtain and front airbags are also standard on these trucks. You can get four-wheel disc brakes as well if you go for Max Trailering package.
Verdict:

So finally we would like to say that the 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab is a potent competitor for its fresh rivals and comes into the market with a wide range of capable performance, a contented ride and body styles.

2011 GMC Canyon

The Canyon series was introduced by the General Motors Corporation (GMC) in the year 2004. Ever since then, the company has continued to bring high quality and powerful models into the lineup that always manages to tap the last release. The same trend is continued on with the 2011 GMC Canyon pickup and there are a lot in store here.

With a maximum payload of 1,422 pounds (645 kg) and an available 5.3L V-8 that enables a towing capacity of 6,000 pounds (2,721 kg), the midsize GMC Canyon delivers big-time capability. The 5.3L V-8 is available on extended cab and crew cab models, delivering 300 horsepower (224 kW) and 320 lb.-ft. of torque (434 Nm).
The WT sports single-zone manual air conditioning, AM/FM stereo, four wheel antilock brakes with front discs, rear drums, cruise control, front 60/40 split-bench with vinyl, integral outboard head restraints and dual cup holders, tire pressure monitor and 15-inch steel wheels.

The SL adds color-keyed carpeting on the floors, front 60/40 split-bench with Pewter SL Cloth, integral outboard head restraints and dual cup holders, and 15-inch aluminum alloy wheels.

SLE1 builds on top of the SL with some chrome accents on interior bits, a couple of grab handles, CD and MP3 capability to the audio system with speed compensating volume control, front 60/40 split-bench with SLE Deluxe Cloth, manual recliners, integral outboard head restraints, armrest with integral storage and dual cup holders.
the exterior styling for the 2011 GMC Canyon remains largely unchanged. In fact, it has not seen any significant revision since the 2007 model. Although largely similar to the design of the previous years, the grille remains to be one of the most notable stylish features for this vehicle. Indeed, there are more surprises waiting for you on the inside.

the 2011 GMC Canyon’s interior is built using subpar materials, such as hard plastic. The main reason for this was the fact that they have retained the basic construction for the earlier models and things have changed since. If only the Canyon series could keep up with its future models, then this should not prove to be a problem at all. One thing that critics have continually praised about the 2011 GMC Canyon is the quality of its ride. The pickup vehicle  runs smoothly and quietly, while the handling has been superb for this vehicle.
Engine and drivetrain details
The base engine in all but Z71-equipped crew cabs is a powerful, 2.9L DOHC four-cylinder with variable valve timing (VVT) that delivers 185 horsepower (138 kW) and 190 lb.-ft. of torque (258 Nm).* Available in all models – and standard in the crew cab with 4WD – is a 3.7L DOHC five-cylinder with VVT that is rated at 242 horsepower (180 kW) and 242 lb.-ft. of torque (328 Nm).*

Both the 2.9L and 3.7L engines are based on GM’s modular inline engine design, which features dual overhead camshafts, variable valve timing, electronic throttle control and other features that contribute to high levels of operating efficiency and fuel economy. Balance shafts help ensure smooth operation of the engines, providing a higher level of refinement.

The 5.3L V-8 is also available. It is based on GM’s legendary small-block V-8 architecture, delivering exceptional power and torque that is rare in the Canyon’s class. Horsepower is rated at 300 (224 kW)* and torque is 320 lb.-ft. (434 Nm)*.

Transferring the Canyon engines’ torque to the axles is an Aisin five-speed manual transmission or a Hydra-Matic 4L60 electronically controlled four-speed automatic. The manual transmission is standard with the four-cylinder engine – except for crew cab models, where it is not available. The automatic is standard with the available five-cylinder engine and V-8; and available with the four-cylinder (standard with crew cab models).
Safety feature
Canyon includes standard head curtain side air bags. They act like a protective curtain when deployed, unfolding from the roof rail between the A-pillar and side window header. When the bag deploys in a moderate to severe side impact, it is angled somewhat toward the window to help provide protection for front- and rear-seat outboard passengers.

Other safety features include: energy-absorbing steel structure, standard four-wheel anti-lock brakes, rack-and-pinion steering and LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) system anchors for child safety seats.

Pricing Details

The pricing information for the 2011 GMC Canyon has not been fully detailed yet. However, the base model is expected to begin at $17,000 and could go up to as much as $30,000.

2011 GMC Acadia

When the GMC Acadia debuted as a full-size, three-row crossover, it aggressively invaded the territory of the GMC Yukon. Although the Yukon’s full-frame platform is stouter and therefore capable of heavier towing and hauling—whereas the unibody Acadia is comparatively light and more fuel efficient—two three-row trucks sharing a showroom are bound to share customer interest.

So it’s only natural, then, that the Acadia would poach the Denali tag from the Yukon catalog as well. According to GMC, nearly half of all Yukon sales are loaded-to-the-brim Denalis, which makes a Denali version of the Acadia full-size crossover a “logical extension.” (Guess when you’re being run by the government you try to avoid the term “no brainer.”) Like the Yukon Denali, the Acadia Denali will be showroom shorthand for “I’ll take one with everything, please,” or maybe “Give me the one the most like an Escalade.”
The 2011 Acadia has one of the most attractive exteriors in its class paired with a very nicely dressed, albeit conservative, interior. On the outside, the Acadia is perhaps the best-looking of the GM large crossovers, including the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave. The more chiseled look overall--along with the prominent wheel wells--includes plenty of cues that give nod to GMC's trucks, while the slightly chunkier sheetmetal fits its role of a casual blazer--dressy, but ready to get things done. Inside, the look is simple but also very nicely trimmed--a lower, more rounded take on the upright instrument panels in GMC trucks. The dark trims and satin-metallic finishes lend a nice touch, though up close the hard plastics are a but surprising in a vehicle of this price class.

The Acadia has a single powertrain, a 288-horsepower, direct-injection V-6, and standard six-speed automatic transmission. Acceleration is strong enough, but the transmission sometimes hunts around for the right gear, especially at suburban speeds, with some powertrain hesitation in the process. The GMC Acadia's optional AWD system (which can transmit as much as 65 percent of engine power to the rear wheels as necessary) is plenty for snow days, or muddy back roads on the way to the cabin, but it won't be suitable for full-on off-road adventuring. Trucklike towing capacity is there, though: up to 4,500 pounds, when properly equipped. Handling is surprisingly good for such a heavy vehicle; the Acadia has a four-wheel independent suspension and nice hydraulic-assist steering that is quite confidence-inspiring and agile overall.

But while the standard features list is impressive, the Acadia Denali is stuck with the same hard plastics found in the base model. Also annoying is a USB port that isn't where the owner's manual says it should be. Hint: It's not in the center console. Look in the storage compartment on top of the dash above the center vents. Connecting your phone or iPod in the dash console is a bad idea on two levels. During the summer your MP3 player could well melt in the sun should you forget it up there. And if you decide to keep your MP3 player where you can easily grab it, you'll be stuck with a USB cable draped down the center of the instrument panel. Feng Shui experts will not be pleased.

Material quality may not be an Acadia strong suit, but spaciousness is. This Denali boasts a class-leading 24.1 cubic feet of storage with all three rows in use, and 116.9 cubes with the second and third rows stowed. That's a lot of room to haul your stuff, but what if towing is in order? The 288-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 affords you the ability to tow an impressive 5,200 pounds when equipped with the towing package. That's more than enough grunt to pull jet skis, snowmobiles or many reasonably sized campers.

With 68,295 U.S. sales in 2010, the Acadia was the second best-selling GMC-branded vehicle behind only the Sierra pickup. Data from AutoPacific shows that the median price for this "Professional Grade" CUV was a substantial $40,000, which suggests this family wagon is a cash cow for General Motors. There was a time when a $40,000 price tag would elicit gasps from car buyers and the media alike, but nowadays, many non-luxury crossovers can crest that mark.
