2011 Dodge Challenger

Styling: The 2011 Dodge Challenger’s styling isn’t altered, staying true to the model-year 2008 revival of this MoPar muscle car. The long-hood, short-deck shape, wide grille flanked by round headlamps, graceful roofline, and full-width tail lamps continue to honor the 1970 Challenger two-door coupe.

The 2011 Dodge Challenger’s interior is updated, but not as extensively or as elegantly as that of several other 2011 Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep models. Revisions to the 2011 Challenger’s cabin are highlighted by a new steering wheel with more ergonomically integrated controls for the audio and cruise control systems and other functions. The dashboard instrumentation gets new faces, and assorted trim is regrained or softer to the touch.
he base model 2011 Dodge Challenger SE will come with Chrysler’s new high-feature 3.6-liter V6 engine, packing 305 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque (compared to 290 horsepower under the hood of the Jeep Grand Cherokee using the same engine). The Challenger’s current five-speed automatic will remain, fuel economy will be rated at 19 city, 26 highway miles per gallon.

We’ve known that the Challenger SRT8 model would swap out its 6.1-liter V8 for a new 6.4-liter unit for the 2011 model year, but until now we could only speculate in regards to power figures. Although not as high as many rumors indicating it could produce as much as 500 horsepower, the 6.4-liter HEMI will be rated at 475 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.
Along with the new engine, the SRT engineers have given the Challenger’s chassis some help with new dampers accompanied by revised suspension geometry. The steering is now quicker, too, and uses a heavy-duty hydraulic pump that’s said to offer more feel, particularly on-center, something the car needed. We’re hopeful, too, that the changes impart an extra dash of nimbleness to what is a heavy car—it weighs more than two tons.

Exterior differentiation starts with prominent “392 HEMI” badges on the front fenders. The front fascia has been revised, including a larger chin spoiler that creeps up along the wheel wells in order to route airflow around the rolling stock.

The 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT 392 comes with xenon headlamps, functional hood scoops, leather upholstery, special sport bucket front seats, and dashboard readouts that track 0-60-mph acceleration times, lateral G-forces, and other lead-foot data. Dodge also is offering the 2011 SRT8 392 Inaugural Edition, a special model whose production is limited to 1,492 cars.  The Inaugural Edition rides on exclusive 20-inch wheels and tires and gives buyers a choice of a white exterior with blue stripes running the length of the car or a blue exterior with white stripes. The seats are finished in white leather with blue stripes and stitching.

2012 Dodge Caliber

The 2011 Dodge Caliber ranks 7 out of 7 Affordable Compact Wagons. This ranking is based on our analysis of 87 published reviews and test drives of the Dodge Caliber, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.

Reviewers say the 2011 Dodge Caliber is a decent commuter car, but beyond that, it falters. It’s overshadowed by competitors that offer better performance, value and utility.
Following up on last year’s interior redo, Dodge has made more changes to its compact Caliber for 2011. Unfortunately, shedding the silly new trim-level names introduced for 2010 was not among the alterations; as a refresher, they are Express, Mainstreet, Uptown, Heat, and Rush.

Changes across the board include the addition of six new paint colors with whimsical names like Mango Tango and Redline 2. Stability control becomes standard on all but the Express trim level, and the optional navigation system gains Sirius traffic information. A new 18-inch chrome wheel design is available for Uptown models.
The Dodge Caliber receives a few updates for the 2011 model year. These include six new exterior colors, a new navigation radio with SIRIUS Travel Link and retuned steering. The Caliber starts at about $17,000, which is pricey when compared to hatchbacks and wagons with better performance, nicer interiors and larger cargo areas.

There are only slight mechanical updates: All models except the Express get revised steering, while the Heat and Rush receive retuned shocks and a thicker rear anti-roll bar. The Caliber’s thrashy, unrefined powertrains are regrettably unchanged. The base engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder rated at 158 hp and 141 lb-ft of torque, while a 2.4-liter four with 172 hp and 165 lb-ft is standard on Rush and optional on Uptown trims.
The Caliber comes in five trims: Express, Mainstreet, Uptown, Heat and Rush. Express, the base trim, comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a five speed manual transmission. Upgrading to the Rush trim gets you a 2.4-liter engine and a five-speed manual transmission. This option starts at about $21,000, which is pricey.

2012 Dodge Avenger

2011 Chrysler PT Cruiser

In commemorating nearly a decade of the PT “Personal Transportation” Cruiser’s timeless design, the new Chrysler PT Cruiser Classic embodies the romance of American automotive heritage, styling and versatility that made PT Cruiser an instant hit.Chrysler PT Cruiser Classic’s unique fenders, roofline and high belt-line proportions recall 1930s and 1940s hot-rod styling — while chrome body-side moldings, door handles, 16-inch wheels and grille highlight PT Cruiser Classic’s high level of detail and style.

Originally slated to be discontinued for model-year 2010, Chrysler is continuing production of this compact wagon for at least another year. PT Cruiser is a 5-passenger, 4-door wagon that now comes in a single, Base trim level. The Touring and Limited have been discontinued. The sole powertrain teams a 150-horsepower 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, and front-side airbags. A sunroof is optional. Also optional is a package that includes heated front seats, power driver seat, and fold-flat front-passenger seat. A newly optional Couture Edition Pacakge includes those features plus leather upholstery and unique interior and exterior trim.

Inside the new Chrysler PT Cruiser Classic continues to lead the small-car segment with its combination of style, craftsmanship and flexibility. Chrome rings highlight the Bright Silver Metallic instrument panel’s three gauges, rotating air vents and Chrysler signature analog clock. A retro proportioned leather-wrapped steering wheel features four spokes with Satin Silver accents and a small center airbag cover for easy viewing of the large gauges. A Satin Silver center stack features conveniently placed climate controls and radio with MP3 input jack, while the center console features a sliding armrest with covered storage.
The PT Cruiser Classic features 32 front- and rear-seat configurations to accommodate any cargo need quickly and conveniently. Command-of-the-road five-passenger seating provides chair-height seating comfort with an elevated second-row for improved visibility and passenger legroom. An available fold-flat front-passenger seat accommodates longer items, such as a ladder or snowboard. PT Cruiser Classic’s 50/50 split-fold rear seats fold-and-tumble to offer quick access for additional room and can be completely removed for up to 62.7 cu. ft. (1.78 cu. m) of cargo space. The tailgate also features a five position shelf panel for additional interior flexibility and utility.
The 2.4 liter inline engine comes with four valves per cylinder and overhead cam. The bore, compression ratio and stroke of the engine will be 87.5 mm, 9.5 and 101 mm respectively. The power from the engine will be 112 kilo watts at the rate of 5,200 rotations per minute and torque will be 164 lb ft at the rate of 4000 rotations per minute. The average fuel economy of the next generation compact car is expected to be 20 miles per gallon. The maximum speed of the 2010 PT Cruiser is expected to be more than 65 miles per hour. Coming to the all new 2010 Chevrolet Avalanche, it gets new styling cues, and several upgrades.

2011 Chrysler Town & Country

The 2011 Chrysler Town & Country now introduces newly styled exterior, a slightly enhanced interior, and the new Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 engineAt the heart of America, the minivan somehow still manages to find its way into many homes along side of the gas-guzzling SUV alternatives. With gas prices steadily rising, the minivan has become an attractive choice with families needing the extra seating. The new Chrysler Town & Country beckons to fill that void.

Changes under the sheetmetal are larger. For 2011, the Town & Country’s outdated 3.3-, 3.8-, and 4.0-liter V-6 engines have been replaced by Chrysler’s new 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine. It makes 283 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque and comes only with a six-speed automatic and front-wheel drive—quite an upgrade from 2010’s base powertrain combo of a 175-hp V-6 and a four-speed auto. Chrysler predicts fuel economy of 17 mpg in the city and 25 on the highway. Those are the same mileage ratings as the outgoing 4.0-liter unit, yet the Pentastar offers appreciable increases over the old engine’s 251 hp and 259 lb-ft. Based on experience with our long-term Caravan, the van didn’t necessarily need more power, although more without additional consumption is fine by us.

The new V-6 is a modern powerplant with dual overhead cams, variable valve timing, and aluminum construction. We’ve already sampled it and found it smooth and satisfying in the new Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Inside of the new Town & Country you will find ample seating for either 7 or 8 passengers depending on the configuration. My 7-passenger Town & Country surprisingly had comfortable 3rd row power-folding seats. The 3rd row is by far the easiest to fold out of the way via the power controls. The power folding 3rd row (Stow n’ Go) offers the ability to fold them fully down or in a reclined configuration all with a push of a button. This is a major selling point for those looking for a minivan that offers easily obtainable flavors of rear seating and storage options. The three-zone climate controls add to the comfort for rear passengers with a full-set of controls to isolate them from the two front zones. Adjustable LED ambient lighting through the rear seating areas and roof put the icing on the cake for this ‘luxury’ minivan.
Chrysler has bundled all its safety technology into the descriptively titled SafetyTec package. Standard on all 2011 T&Cs, it includes a blind-spot warning system, stability control, parking sensors, and more. Other options like Sirius and FLO satellite TV services for rear-seat passengers, as well as the Stow ’n Go folding seats, carry over.

Pricing has yet to be released, but Chrysler says the T&C will be “competitive for its class.” The 2010 model stickered from $26,010 to $36,710 before options, and we expect the 2011 model’s sticker to remain close to those levels. The new van will hit showrooms by the end of 2010. Chrysler says we’ll see it at an auto show before the end of the year, pointing to a Los Angeles show debut in November.

2011 Chrysler 300

Chrysler 300 2011 comes with a myriad of novelty. The design became more soft and dynamic than previous models that handsome but stiff. Chrysler 300 car is known as the Mafia.

The golden crest is gone, but the Chrysler name is still spelled out and surrounded by a pair of wings atop the front-grille frame. The eggcrate grille has been swapped for one composed of sculpted horizontal slats, as seen on the Chrysler 200 and Town & Country (and, unfortunately, the Hyundai Sonata). Projector-beam headlights have evolved to incorporate must-mean-it's-luxury LEDs.
 Chrysler goes high-tech
A sophisticated dashboard-mounted UConnect Touch infotainment system is set to take on Ford’s MyTouch by offering numerous convenience and connectivity features. Chrysler says that the 8.4-inch screen - just over an inch smaller than an Apple iPad - is the largest standard screen in the segment.

Other interior upgrades include new blue back lighting for the gauges, more contoured seats and, Chrysler says, vastly improved interior materials.

Like its Dodge Charger platform mate, the new 300 features a very thorough facelift, leaving elements of the current design somewhat intact. The interior is clearly vastly improved, addressing what was often the biggest complaint with the previous generation of the vehicle.

Although the windshield is more steeply raked, the upright proportions, boxy roofline, and purposeful stance clearly recall the car that nabbed our Golden Calipers back in 2005. But now it's more refined and less cartoonish. Gone are the slab sides and sharp creases that hint at Gotham City chase scenes and staccato tommy-gun fire. Though the muscular wheel arches remain, softer lines and smoother arcs shape the hood and trunklid, while chrome-trimmed taillights serve as a dramatic flourish to this top-hat-to-spats reformulation. The LED daytime running lights are arranged in the shape of a "C" in Chrysler's honor.
Underpinning the new 300 will be Chrysler’s new LY architecture — essentially a heavy rework of the outgoing LX chassis. However, some components have been carried over. Fiat is said be planning future cars on the LY platform as well.

In order to improve fuel economy, Chrysler employed a combination of improved aerodynamics, axle ratios and drivetrains for the latest 300. At the heart of the improvements is Chrysler's all-new Pentastar V6 engines.

The new Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 replaces both V6s that were offered in the LX cars, improving both fuel economy and performance.

Although an eight-speed automatic transmission is planned for the new LY cars, the first year of the new 300 will have to make due with a five-speed unit.

All-wheel drive also returns for the newest model, with the 300 offering a class-exclusive transfer case that allows the front axle to disconnect from the drivetrain when AWD is not needed. Chrysler says the feature can improve fuel economy by up to 5 percent.

Prices will range from $27,995 for a base 300 to $38,995 for a RWD 300C, with AWD versions going up to $41,145.

2011 Chrysler 200

Chrysler has released the first details about the 200 S sedan and convertible. Essentially a design package, the S models feature a unique grille, body-color mirrors, tinted headlights and exclusive 18-inch aluminum wheels. Chrysler has injected a dash of menace into the 200 convertible, and the result is the 2011 200 S droptop. It's not outright evil, since it still packs the same 283-horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine and the same suspension. However, the S version trends a bit toward the dark side thanks to a host of exterior changes designed to bring a dose of cool to Chrysler's rental lot standby. Naturally, if you prefer your cars with fixed roofs, Auburn Hills will be happy to sell you a 200 S sedan, as well.
The shined-up silver paintwork looks resplendent under the New York Auto Show lights. A Chrysler wing badge sits prominently in the mesh of the black grille, while the headlights also get the black background treatment. The dark theme continues on the S-badged 18-inch aluminum wheels and then winds its way into the cabin.

The front leather seats are heated and the driver can also warm up his or her hands on the heated steering wheel. The S logo is stitched into the headrests, along with a line of contrasting silver accent along the seams.
To spruce up the cabin, designers added a perforated leather steering wheel, heated leather seats, suede accents, and a 276-watt Boston Acoustic sound system.

Both cars are powered by a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that develops 283 hp (211 kW / 287 PS) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque.  It is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission which promises to deliver 29 mpg highway.
The 200 S convertible should hit your local dealer later this spring, and will arrive carrying an as-delivered price tag of $32,490, while the sedan rings up at 26,790.
